Permanent makeup is done in two steps. Sometimes, a few extra sessions are needed. At the first visit, we go light on color and shape because we can always add more later.

After your first session, the color will fade a lot—up to half! That’s why a touch-up is so important. It fixes any spots that healed unevenly and makes the color fresh again.

What happens at the touch-up?

Your touch-up appointment will feel a lot like the first session, but it’s usually quicker and more focused.

We’ll first look at how everything healed and talk about any changes you’d like. If some spots look a little patchy or faded—that’s completely expected. We go over those areas and layer in more pigment to even everything out and make sure the results last. Small changes often make a big difference.

How often do I need a touch-up?

Touch-ups keep your tattoo looking good longer. You’ll need to wait at least 4 weeks after your first session—usually 4-6 weeks is best. For some lip treatments, you might wait 8-12 weeks.

How well it heals depends on your skin, the artist’s skill, the ink, and how well you take care of it.

Why does my tattoo look patchy?

This happens because some scabs fall off faster than others. It might look uneven for a while, but that’s just part of healing. Everyone’s skin holds color a little differently.

Do scabs mean something’s wrong?

No—scabs are normal! They’ll fall off on their own in about a week. Picking them can cause problems like losing color, infections, or scars. Just let them heal naturally

Is it normal for the color to fade?

Yes! After the first session, most people keep about 70-80% of the color if they follow aftercare rules. If you pick at scabs or don’t take care of it, you might only keep half, meaning you’ll need more work later.

The color looks lightest after the first week. The real final color shows up after 4 weeks.

Final Thoughts

The touch-up isn’t a bonus—it’s a necessary part of getting beautiful, lasting results from your permanent makeup. Skipping it can leave the color unfinished or uneven, and the results may not last as long.

So if your brows or lips look lighter, patchy, or a little off after the first session, don’t worry—that’s exactly what the touch-up is for. We’ll fix it together.

By the end of your second visit, everything will be in place, and you’ll be able to enjoy your new look for months to come—with no daily makeup needed.
